The Heartbleed bug lets cyber crooks steal your credentials from secure sites. It doesn’t matter how long or strong your password is when the bad guys can just read it out of memory. Take this as another wake-up call; change all your passwords soon.  The patch to fix this HUGE security hole will be deployed tomorrow, so we recommend you wait until late tomorrow (4/10/14) to change your passwords.

PayPal has issued a statement on the Heartbleed Open SSL bug, you can find it here.

They say:

  1. Your PayPal account is secure
  2. Your PayPal account details were not exposed in the past and remain secure
  3. You do not need to take any additional action to safeguard your information
  4. There is no need to change your password

We recommend opening or using a PayPal account to make payments to merchants who accept PayPal as a payment method.  PayPal seems to offer more secure encryption vs. other payment processors.
